The Transport Secretary Grant Shaps Has hinted that privately owned electric scooters could be made legal In the UK Very Soon.

Electric scooters are becoming more popular with an estimated 750,000-800,000 privatley owned e-scooters in the UK. The government has been trialing the use of e-scooters through rental schemes, run in several majour uk cities; despite this Privatley owned escooters remain illegal to use on all but Private land!

Despite the fact of illegallity under current Uk law, the public has voted with their wallets and agreed that e-scooters are fine. The main obstacle to overcome is the the lack of guidance on the use of electric scooters,Changes will have to be made in law to allow the use of scooters on Uk streets.

In the opinion of e-scootr.co.uk this will mean use on cycle lanes, or possible bus lanes within the urban enviroment,it is unlikley that e-scooters will be permitted for use on pavements and pedestrian areas.

With sales of e-scooters increasing on a monthly basis, and  the police struggling to apprehend every scooter rider, legalisation is a probable solution

Transport secretary Mr Shapps has already hinted that Mps could legalise e-scooters in the coming weeks. Appearing befor the transport select comittee, Mr Schapps indicated that legalisation concerning the use of e-scooter within the Uk would be included in the Queens speech.

The Queens speach is due to take place on the 10th of May 2022, so watch this space, the world of transport in the UK could change forever!
