Electric scooters in UK to be Legalised Within Weeks!
The Transport Secretary Has hinted that privately owned electric scooters could be made legal In the UK Very Soon.
Electric scooters are becoming more popular with an estimated 750,000-800,000 privately owned e-scooters in the UK. The government has been trailing the use of e-scooters through rental schemes, run in several major UK cities; despite this Privately owned e-scooters remain illegal to use on all but Private land!
Despite the fact of illegality under current UK law, the public has voted with their wallets and agreed that e-scooters are fine. The obstacle to overcome is the the lack of guidance on the use of electric scooters.
Changes will have to be made in law to allow the use of scooters on UK streets.
In the opinion of e-scootr.co.uk this will mean use on cycle lanes, or possible bus lanes within the urban environment, it is unlikeley that e-scooters will be permitted for use on pavements and pedestrian areas.
With sales of e-scooters increasing on a monthly basis, and the police struggling to apprehend every scooter rider, legalisation is a probable solution
